Today, Saturday, the Armenian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the armed forces continue to fully perform their duties to ensure the security of the republic, regardless of the political process.
The ministry said - in a statement reported by (Russia Today) news channel - that the army continues to serve in the name of ensuring the security of the state and the people, adding that: "The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces are outside politics and will continue to continuously reform and modernize the defense sector."
The Presidency Office announced - earlier today - that President Armen Sarkisian did not sign a decree on the dismissal of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Onik Gasparyan, whose resignation was requested by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
In turn, Pashinyan confirmed that he sent, for the second time, a petition to the President of the Republic, requesting the dismissal of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
